The RS Feva is a two- person sailing dinghy designed by Paul Handley in 2002.

It is manufactured and distributed by RS Sailing.[1]The RS Feva is an International Sailing Federation (ISAF) International Class, a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Supported Junior Class

RS Feva is a rotationally moulded boat.

There are 3 layers to the plastic Feva

  • Polyethene outer layer giving it the tough rigidity of the outer layer
  • Inner layer expanding foam
  • Inside layer natural polyethene to give it rigidity on the inside.

The mould is loaded with pallets and rotated into an oven where the plastic slowly melts and set with a cooling process.

This process is repeated for each layer of material.

High winds greeted us on the first day of the regatta with gusts measuring over 35 knots. On the first day, we were sent out in very high winds, and we unfortunately capsized and were forced to forfeit the regatta. However, on day 2 we had two races finishing 2nd and 3rd which moved us up to the third place. The last day gave us some medium conditions and good gusts. We messed up two starts but managed to climb through the fleet leaving us with a 4th and 5th. In the last race, we had a great start and were first around the windward mark. places were constantly changing between 1st, 2nd, 3rd but we sailed well and came out with a 1st in the last race. Overall, we came 3rd and first girls.

Boat falling apart

Had a slight panicked time rigging as the bottom rudder pintle snapped off in transit somehow.

Luckily we went down with Royd and not dad. Thanks to Royd we made it to the race in plenty of time after he emptied his tool kit of nuts and bolts.

Congratulations Millie & Katherine

RS Feva Rig setup, Upwind Speed

Setting up a Feva to go fast upwind should be no secret.

In the below video Tim Rush explains two methods on how to set your rig up, but to me what is important is what effect do these setups have on my boat.
