5 reason why kids should sail

There might be nothing in the world that packs as many life lessons as the activity of sailing. It teaches teamwork, engineering, history, patience, oceanography, ecology…all in one fell swoop. Because of this, we believe every kid should learn to sail and here’s the top five reasons why.

My first race as a crew with Esme. Great day with high winds and the lesson of the day was to wear gloves next time.

RS Feva open training Windermere 17/02/2019

Sunday only and focus was on gybing. The wind built all day and after we had completed the exercises we went upwind for a blast back down.

RYA RS Feva Zone squad training Windermere School 09/02/2019

Heavy wind training focusing on tight reaching.

Only 1 capsize during the morning season.

We learnt so much about bearing away in the gusts and easing the main and asymmetric as we bear away. timing and crew work/communication so important.

RYA North East REGION Champion 2018

Erica Caswell from Yorkshire Dales Sailing Club nominated me and I was selected for RYA North East REGION Champion 2018.

This means I now have to go to the RYA dinghy show on the 3rd of March to pick up the award.
